Early Church Texts

Early Church Texts is a great resource for those who want to study some of the early church writings in Greek and Latin. This is the description on the site:

This site gives you access to a vast amount of information on the Early Church (from the first to the fifth century) and a growing number of original language Greek and Latin texts (now over 100, which are mainly extracts dealing with major themes and controversies). All the texts have online dictionary links, English translations, and notes. The site also has various subscription options if you wish to print out the texts and associated background information and notes.

For example, from the homepage, if you put your mouse over the letter “I” on the left of the page, a list of authors will pop up. Choose “Ignatius”, and another list will pop up. Choose “Ignatius Texts”, then “Ministry and Sacraments”, and the page will display the Greek text (Migne PG, Vol. 5, Col. 713) and English translation (J.H. Srawley translation, Epistles of St. Ignatius, SPCK, 1900) of the eighth chapter of Ignatius’ Letter to the Smyrnaeans.
