Tutorial 1.4: More help for learning Greek letters and sounds

The best way to learn the Greek alphabet is to repeatedly draw the letter, pronounce the name, and say the sound of each Greek letter in order. When you can say the alphabet backwards, then you know you have learned it.

A website called “NT Greek in Session” may prove beneficial in your studies. For help in learning the Greek alphabet, see Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 on that website. These lessons provide helps for learning both the upper and lower case Greek letters, as well as assistance learning the sounds of the various letters.

Learning the sound associated with each letter is very important. When you begin learning Greek vocabulary, you will be greatly hindered if you cannot pronounce each word. You will learn better if you can recognize the symbols (letters) of the word and also hear the word pronounced.
